Spirituality Bolsters Marriage

Spirituality is a hot topic in today's fast paced world and adding it to your marriage may result in a more perfect union.

Professor of Theology Gisbert Greshake from the University of Freiburg, Germany, gives his take on Elements in a spirituality of marriage.

These elements are based on the Christian philosophy of marriage but work for couples of any religion. Greshake says togetherness is the first fundamental of a spiritual marriage. A married couple should make their journey to God together.

Next, it's important to be able to reconcile differences, when inevitably, conflicts occur. Greshake says lifelong fidelity is imperative in a spiritual marriage.

As part of the sacrament of a spiritual marriage, Greshake says partners should live God's love by loving each other in a corporeal and sexual way. In essence, he says a marriage is a miniature church.
