Quoted from Charlie Holless Blog:
You dont want to fail. You want to be mega successful. Well maybe you have to turn roundyour mindset about what failure is. Im sure you all know the story of Thomas Edison who invented the light bulb. That certainly wasnt his only achievement but his famous quote was delivered when he was asked about how long it had taken to invent the electric light bulb. In that process he had failed seven hundred times.
I have not failed seven hundred times," said Edison. "I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those seven hundred ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work.
In the 21st century we want results right now, even yesterday if possible. People jump from one business opportunity to another at the drop of a hat, usually because they have not developed a huge income within a few short months. The illusion of overnight wealth is used by many to promote their Network Marketing opportunities. Added to that is a false assumption that somehow working on the internet is going to produce magical riches as if from a conjurers hat.
So what is the true secret of success?
- Small daily actions
The great Earl Nightingale defined success as The progressive realisation of a worthy ideal. Progressive is the key word. In the Slight Edge, Jeff Olson hammers the idea that we must perform small daily actions in pursuit of our goals usually over a long period of time. These actions are easy to do and also easy not to do. Often when no immediate result is apparent from our actions, we dont continue to perform them. Well that didnt work; maybe its not worth it; Ill do it tomorrow. That is a slippery slope to long term failure.
