The surprise discovery of a 33-year-old vial of Ted Bundy's blood may be the key to solving a considerable number of cold cases. The blood will be tested in order to get a complete DNA profile of the notorious serial killer, reports the AP. The information will be added to the FBI's national database. A detective working on an unsolved 1961 murder in Tacoma, Washington found the blood and contacted Florida authorities. The vial, which held evidence from Bundy's rape and murder of a 12-year-old in Florida in 1978, was slated to be destroyed so discovering that it was still on file was startling. Bundy was executed in 1989 for the murder of two Florida college students and the 12-year-old. However, he confessed to killing 30 people and is suspected of even more murders.
