Do It Yourself Taxes

I'm a CPA and have always done my own taxes. I don't have a very complicated return and I've been using Turbo Tax for over 10 years. Turbo Tax and I believe Tax Cut are very good for the average taxpayer. If you have anything that is complicated, I would suggest a professional, and I don't mean H & R or the other chains.

I have used a program called Tax Act for about the last eight years. One year I compared it with Turbo Tax and there was only a difference of less than five dollars with Tax Act giving the best refund. The cost difference is from $8 to $24 with Tax Act cost of $12.95. I used Turbo Tax this year and it was great. They pretty much take you through it step-by-step. I don't know if I got as big a return as I could've, but it sure was convenient!
