Feel great, act great and approve of yourself

Self approval is something we all find hard to accomplish. Accepting ourselves with all our shortcomings and accepting our lives even though we may not be overly happy with the outcome is a fundamental aspect of yoga. It is called contentment with what we have and not craving that which has not come into our lives. Self approval and accepting one’s place in life is a process that begins with observance.
According to yoga there are five laws of observance. Contentment is the second law and is vital to a happy life. To feel, act and approve of self we must practice intellectual contentment. This means being psychologically prepared to part with anything that you do not need. On a deeper level it means you should not feel perturbed if what you desire does not come into your life. Rather you should reach an understanding of the laws of abundance as well as the laws of karma.
Being content does not mean you sit by ideally. It means to be content with what you have at the moment while quietly reaching out to grow and gain from life through a balanced level of consciousness.
Contentment is the root of happiness, happiness is the root of a quiet mind, a quiet mind is the root of gathering energy, and gathering energy is the root of illumination. Without contentment a troubled mind will arise. One can not feel great, act great or approve of self. Without contentment the life forces get scattered. Think of a time when you were content. Your energy was high, you accomplished plenty and you drew into your life a force of energy that expanded your being. You felt great, you acted great, and you approved of yourself.
In every stage of your life, in every action of your life, you should be content. Only if a person is content can he or she be peaceful and only if he or she is peaceful can the true beauty and wonder of life be experienced.
Be content; feel great, act great, and approve of yourself.
