The very definition of graciousness is : marked by kindness and courtesy <a gracious host> b: GRACEFUL c: marked by tact and delicacy : URBANE d: characterized by charm, good taste, generosity of spirit, and the tasteful leisure of wealth and good breeding <gracious living>3: MERCIFUL, COMPASSIONATE —used conventionally of royalty and high nobility - Webster's Dictionary.
The yogi Bhajan explains it as "grace is the most effective tool. It will bring you love, appreciation and prosperity."
The art of graciousness is something we all are called upon to use at some point in our lives. There are times that tear away at the very foundation of our soul and it is through sheer graciousness that we are able to maintain kindness, forgiveness, and politeness even when faced with pain, hurt, and disappointment.
I have not always acted gracious in all of my experiences in life. At times when I lost control I have felt the embarrassment and imbalance of my being. Although intellectually I know a balanced being will always steps back from all situations and observes first and then reacts with grace and kindness, emotions can often times supersede.
Ever watch anyone graciously handle an insult, rudeness, anger or embarrassment? It is the gracious soul that prospers and is appreciated for their good taste, manners, kindness, and generous spirit.
I've decide to work on being gracious or more specifically being a generous spirit towards others. At times I have been insulted and hurt by other people and I must admit I have reacted with anger and had thoughts of revenge. But I know in my soul that being gracious no matter what will bring a depth to my being that will serve me well. I thank those who have challenged my inner center and shook my world for it has reminded me of what it means to walk with, talk with, act with, and give with grace and kindness. Grace after all is an effective tool that will bring you appreciation, love, and prosperity.
