Valentine's Day Musings
Posted February 7, 2007 12:00 PM
Given that Valentine's Day is exactly a week away, I thought I'd post a few random musings on the broad relationship energies affecting the various signs. These are musings by the way, not deep insights, so feel free to just read the description for your sign and then take things with a grain of salt. You can also check out the description for your rising sign, if you know it, as in some cases it will be more likely to apply.
Aries: Aries people are being affected by a coming opposition between Saturn in their solar 5th houses and Neptune in their solar 11th houses. The brief translation of this might be: It's not the thought that counts, it's the gift. Ariens in relationship should celebrate Valentine's Day in socially appropriate ways by purchasing a socially appropriate, yet conservative, gift. Saturn believes in both the socially appropriate formalities of romance and in tangible items. Ignore Saturn this year, and you could find yourself in hot water with your significant other by the end of the month, in a potentially confusing way. Avoid trouble, do the right thing, even if you don't feel like it. For single Ariens, the rough translation of the opposition might be something like: "It's great to have friends, but wouldn't it be better to have a lover, too?" The answer is, yes it would. It ain't gonna happen unless you take action, though, so...resolve to take it.
Taurus: Eligible, interested Taureans are in the midst of a two year eclipse cycle designed to plop them into a suitable relationship before 2008. Some Taureans have already found themselves delightfully so plopped. The energy around Valentine's Day is a bit bobbly, though, for these Taureans, as there's a bit of a break-up/make-up vibe in the air. If all goes well, the romantic relationship of the moment will turn into something serious by September when Saturn moves into the Taurus solar 5th house. Sometime before the end of April, Taureans in a new romantic relationship should find out if all is going to go well. Advice for Valentine's Day is to listen, with alert attention, to anything your significant other has to say, but to hold off reading too much into it until the energy settles down a bit. Taureans in any kind of a relationship should feel free to celebrate with some good old-fashioned passionate and romantic sex. Single Taureans should keep their hopes up for good romantic energy by the end of September or October.
Gemini: Jupiter is in the Gemini solar 7th house of relationships and that's good news. Feel free to celebrate Valentine's Day in a lighthearted, playful, exuberant and abundant manner--but don't get too mushy as Jupiter in Sag is not all that sentimental. Single Geminis should get out there and socialize their buns off on the theory that Jupiter may bring them romance before the end of the year if they are willing to stay in the game and meet people.
Cancer: Cancers are theoretically too busy with work and money matters for romance to be at the top of the agenda this Valentine's Day. But who cares? Celebrate as you choose. If you feel like pretending that Valentine's Day is just another boring Wednesday--go ahead. If you feel like taking a break from your Cancerian worries by spending Valentine's Day indulging in a brief romantic and sexual evening of escape--go ahead. Mars in Capricorn will help a bit if you take that route, as it has been known to briefly up the sex drive while in a person's opposite sign. Besides, Saturn will still be in your solar 2nd house of money when Valentine's Day has come and gone, so it isn't like you won't have plenty of opportunities to worry later.
Leo: Leo, your solar chart is seriously confused about romance in general these days. Jupiter in your solar 5th house is hot for it, and all in a good mood, while Neptune in your solar 7th in opposition to Saturn in your solar 1st house can't figure out what the heck you or it wants from a relationship these days. Or maybe it's your significant other who is all confused. Someone is bound to be definitely confused, as Uranus jumping nervously around your solar 8th house of sexual intimacy isn't making things any clearer. Ignore the confusion and try to have a good time anyway. None of these confusing influences are going away anytime soon, so you have plenty of time to sort things out later. If you're single by the way, this is your year to make enthusiastic efforts to get yourself into a new relationship that you can be confused about later.
Virgo: Virgos have been pounded by weird relationship energy courtesy of Uranus in their solar 7th houses for a couple of years now. Some have already undergone the crises they needed to, but others are still in the thick of it, thanks to an eclipse cycle affecting the signs of Virgo and Pisces. Some will get delightful relationship news this month or next, and others will have to grin and bear some uncertainty and moodiness a bit longer. If there's anything that will help make this Valentine's Day special, it would be an open, optimistic, loving attitude toward that irritating person you're committed to. Single Virgos could fruitfully adopt that same open, optimistic loving attitude toward the idea that falling madly in love before the end of the spring is a definite and welcome possibility.
Libra: Libras theoretically have the best luck with Valentine's Day every year because they're such nice people. Okay, well actually astrologically, it's because Valentine's Day falls during the time when the sun is in their solar 5th house of romance. This year, Saturn's trying to spoil the romantic mood by opposing Neptune in that same house of romance. Saturn may, in fact, try to impose some dreary social obligation that Libras don't want to deal with. Neptune is the planet of deception and escape, though, so if you Libras want to employ a little deception to sneak out of an obligation and indulge in some Libran-style romance on Valentine's Day, I sure as heck won't blow the whistle on you.
Scorpio: Uranus in the Scorpio solar 5th house of romance for the past couple of years has been subjecting Scorpios to some bobbly romantic energy for a couple of years in hopes of getting said Scorpios past their romantic issues and into a brave new world of exciting possibilities for deep connection. Getting past romantic issues sometimes requires confronting them, but for the next couple of months, Uranus and an eclipse cycle are more interested in getting single Scorpios into a new relationship so they can confront things with the help of a creative and stimulating partner. So some single Scorpios have the definite possibility of getting some thrilling and unexpected romantic news around Valentine's Day. Scorpios who already have a creative and stimulating partner may very well want to spend Valentine's Day snuggling at home by the fire with that same partner, enjoying life.
Sagittarius: Sagittarians are benefiting from Jupiter (their ruler) in their own sign this year. The rough translation of this is "Don't worry; be happy." Jupiter is feeling good all round, and wants Sag people to feel good too. Late-born Sagittarians should feel particularly good around Valentine's Day as Jupiter passes over their natal sun. The ideal thing would be to do something adventurous and new and fun to celebrate Valentine's Day, as Jupiter gets a real kick out of any kind of new adventure. Doesn't matter if you're a single or committed Sagittarian, as long as you take a moment or two to celebrate life itself.
Capricorn: Capricorns have the benefit of Mars in their own sign on Valentine's Day this year. What this essentially means is a) good sexual energy if you choose to take advantage of it, and b) it's up to you to take charge of all Valentine's Day celebrations. Run the show, go all out, show your significant other how much you care by doing something bold and memorable. On the other hand, if you're a Valetine's Day bah humbug sort of a Capricorn, you can always use the excuse of Mars in your sign to declare that you have too much work to do to stop for a silly, over-commercialized holiday like Valentine's. Your choice!
Aquarius: Saturn in your solar 7th house of relationships suggests that you need to take Valentine's Day seriously this year. If you're in a committed relationship, buy an appropriate gift and take a moment to spend some quality time with your other half. Jupiter in your solar 11th house is trying to make you excessively busy with other matters, but that's really no excuse. You need to show the person you love that you're willing to spend some heart-to-heart time with him or her. If you're single, then what you theoretically need to do is get out and socialize, as Jupiter in good angle to Saturn will try to match you up with an appropriate other half if you'll just get out and meet some people.
Pisces: Venus is in your own sign for Valentine's Day this year and that can mean a couple of things. One, spend Valentine's Day honoring and loving yourself or two, let whoever is around spend the day loving and honoring you. It doesn't matter if whoever is around is the love of your life or not, as long as you let someone love you. An eclipse cycle in your own sign is trying desperately hard to get you all enthusiastic about yourself and your life, and, if it succeeds, you will have nothing to worry about in the relationship department by the end of the year, except how serious and committed you're willing to let things get. At any rate, this particular Valentine's Day is all about you.
