The spark of impeachment has been lit. All over the country people are moving, organizing, protesting, passing resolutions, setting up web sites, wearing ImpeachBush.org t-shirts, sweatshirts, and caps, and placing bumper stickers on their cars.

"September 15 March on Washington" committees are being set up in communities around the country. The ImpeachBush.org movement is uniting again with the anti-war movement to demand Impeach Bush, End the War Now! Tens of thousands will descend on Washington DC at the very moment that the national and international media will be focusing on General Petraeus’ report to Congress, which is being issued on September 15.

Those of us who are old enough to remember past wars also know that it is the people who can change our government's course if we are willing to stand and be counted.

Iraq war veterans and their families will make up a huge front contingent of the September 15 March on Washington. At the very moment that Congress will be debating the war in mid-September, the people will gather in an historic action demanding that Bush and Cheney be impeached for inciting a war of aggression, authorizing torture and conducting a massive spying program on the American people.

Cindy Sheehan’s Journey for Humanity has helped spread the message of impeachment far and wide. Cindy and 47 other people were arrested on July 23 in Washington DC when they demanded that Congress act immediately to impeach Bush and Cheney.

Cindy Sheehan will join Ramsey Clark and others as featured speakers at the September 15 March on Washington.

On July 23, as Cindy Sheehan, Rev. Lennox Yearwood and others were staging their dramatic protest at Congress, the city of nearby Takoma Park, Md. voted to support the impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney. Takoma Park joins a huge list of municipalities who are demanding that Congress uphold their Constitutional oath and act to impeach now.

This is a people's movement. It comes from below, from the grassroots. That is the hallmark of all great movements in history. It is always the people acting, with conviction and resolve, that changes the political equation. ImpeachBush.org is a movement that is nearing the million-person mark. 929,275 have signed up so far. It is a sign of what is possible.

Please consider making plans now to be in Washington DC on Saturday September 15. Bring friends and family. If you have never marched before, now is the time. If you can’t come personally but want to help this action succeed you can help by making an urgently needed donation by going to www.ImpeachBush.org

The organization is also helping Iraq war veterans come to the September 15 march where they will be forming the front contingent. Many veterans are facing extreme financial difficulties and they want to help subsidize their travel so they can attend on September 15. You can help pay for travel costs by making a donation.

Are you planning to come to Washington on September 15th? Are you planning to make a donation? Do you think Impeacment is the right thing to do? Or do you think there are better ways to bring about change? Whatever your views, I'd like to hear from you.

Jed, there's no denying the Dr. King had a brilliant and effective way of maikng his point, but I would not discount the efforts and methods of Malcolm X either. Sometimes turning the other cheek justs gets you double the injuries. As for the fighting fire with fire comment, there is such a thing as controlled fires to stop a fire that is out of control. I wish no more Americans serving our country were killed or crippled for their efforts, no more Iraquis struggling and hoping for freedom and human rights were killed, kidnapped or tortured, but this does not seem to be the case. So what can be done to undo our involvement in Iraq? Can we just pullout without causing more damage than if we stayed? I really could care less about President Bush and cheney, I want to see stabilization and a better world. I'd like to see our economy stabilized, more money spent to build our infrastructure, educate our children and provide health care for all instead of spending hundreds of billions in Iraq. What can accomplish these goals? How does our society survive when we produce nothing, import everything we need, continue to lose jobs and lower our standard of living? Our houses are on fire, small smoldering fires going almost unnoticed as the cost of gasoline, heating fuel and electricity feed the flames destruction. We or when will relief come?

I recall someone, I think it was Marin Luther King, who said the philosophy of "an eye for an eye" leaves everyone blind. I say that fighting fire with fire burns down all our houses.

The past has proven that half measures in military actions accomplish nothing but the continued loss of life. IF we are serious about winning in the middle east we need to send a message, level iran, pakistan and be clear to the rest of the world that we mean business. Take out France to send a message to europe and the rest of those traitors who took our lives and money during world war II and now treat us like dirt. All in or get out now!

If you get your way, and an isolationist Democrat takes over, will you cry for their impeachment when the terrorists who controlled Iraq during the Clinton years take Iraq back, merge with Syria and Iran a bloody purge which kills millions of moderate Muslims, and then launches a new series of attacks on America and Europe? Or will you just hope you get to enjoy the Jacuzzi a few more years and let your grandchildren worry about the mess you left?
