Let’s Do the Turkey Trot and Really Enjoy

Since my posts come out on Thursdays, I decided to write today's post about Thanksgiving. My guess is that most of you, like me, will be otherwise engaged on the actual day and might not get a chance to read this post. Thanksgiving, traditionally, is supposed to be a day where we give thanks. So in order to help you be in the right frame of mind for that day, it seemed I should address it today rather than after it has passed when you will more likely have a chance to read this. The downside For many of you, it may seem difficult to give thanks. Certainly, there are so many who have been directly impacted already by the ill effects of the war. Others live with the anticipation and unknown ... also quite devastating. More…

Can You Forgive and Forget?

By now, most of you have most likely read articles or books regarding the concept of forgiveness. And, hopefully, if you've been hurt, you've been able to forgive. Kudos to you! But, then, there are probably many of you who are still unable to forgive the person who has caused you pain, who has emotionally wounded you. It is for you that I write this blog. I have planned to deal with this subject for a long time because I truly believe that when you do not forgive, you are hurting yourself. Anatomy of hurt: causes and consequences More…

Trust Your Inner Strength

Recently, I was babysitting my two-year old grandson. It was just the two of us having a wonderful day. We'd been playing outside on his driveway and just finished putting all the toys away into the garage. Our next activity was to be lunch, and he stood there while I closed the garage door. What had been an absolutely sunny and fun-filled morning suddenly changed. Due to some very careless move on my part, I closed the garage door on three of my fingers! After helplessly letting out a yelp, I looked at my fingers which now looked like pancakes in the fold of the door. (Ladies -- think mammogram multiplied by 100 due to the weight of the garage door.) The nitty gritty More…

Loving Life

"Life is short." No doubt that is an expression you have all heard and I'm going to guess that most of you would agree with it. But the question that is really relevant is, "Do you live in a way that embraces that concept?" Clearly, life is also stressful. There just seems to be so much to do. And though technology was supposed to make life easier, it seems to have only added to our burden of making life more complex and adding onto the endless "to do" list. The reality More…

Witnessing Spring

I'm reminded of Witness Consciousness today. Spring is busting out all over the place and this makes it relatively easy to be hyper conscious of the beauty and life that is all around us.  Forget stress, the economy and my messy house - it's bursting out there! It takes many varying practices to become more conscious. Right now I'm paying attention to nature in all of its glory. Last night I was paying attention to breath, sensual sensations and my G-spot. Later today I will even pay good attention to finishing my taxes. It's all the same. Really. More…

Becoming - Creating Your Own Reality

“The phrase ‘to meditate’ does not only mean ‘to examine, observe, reflect, question, wish’; it also has, in the Sanskrit, a more profound meaning, which is ‘to become’." Krishnamurti More…

Are You Stuck in Regret?

Have you ever made a mistake? Of course, you have. We all have. Do you look back at some of those mistakes or choices you made and have regrets? My guess is that many of you are answering in the affirmative. I decided to write about this because of a conversation I had recently with someone very dear to me. And the truth is that if you're walking around filled with regret and remorse it's going to impact how you feel about yourself and also affect your relationships. It certainly seems to be a topic worthy of discussion. More…

Thanksgiving stories

Sometimes we spend so much time worrying about, planning, shopping and making Thanksgiving Dinner, even as we give thanks for our many blessings, we miss really connecting with our families.  We assume that we know them; yet often we don’t know the most important things about them.   This is especially true of our older relatives, our family elders.  Somehow we get so caught up in what’s going on that we miss seeing them in their glory, in the richness of their life experience. Upping the Ante, One Way or Another

A couple of interesting research studies have come out this week giving us a better understanding of our ability to live life to its fullest potential. As a Tantrica I am always interested in easy to understand, simple ideas that can help me practice what I preach, so to speak. Though different from each other, I found that these two particular studies have a lot in common. More…

How Successful are You?

In every religion, there are certain times when the people of its faith are more focused on reflection. In the Jewish faith, we have just celebrated the New Year and at the time of this posting will be observing Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. During these eight days we are to look back at the past year, ask for forgiveness, and pray that we be inscribed in the Book of Life for the next year. As I did my own reflecting and listened to something the Rabbi said in his sermon, I was motivated to share some of my thoughts with you. I feel that given the current state of our society, they are particularly significant. Are you happy? More…
