Eyesight not what it used to be? Experts at Mediconsult.com suggest improving the lighting around the house, especially at work counters, stairways -- and around chairs used for reading.
Also recommended: a complete exam by an eye specialist every one to two years. Be sure the optometrist tests your eye muscles and checks for glaucoma.
They also urge regular doctor visits to check for any disease that may lead to eye problems. If you have diabetes, an eye exam is suggested yearly.
Be on the alert for any loss or dimness of eyesight, eye pain, fluids coming from the eye, double vision, redness, or swelling of the eye or eyelid.
