Actress and author Carrie Fisher, sick of being overweight, has joined Jenny Craig as its newest celebrity spokeswoman , the company said. "A day comes when you can no longer face not wanting to leave the house because you dont like the way you look," Fisher said. "A day comes when you want to stop apologizing for it. When you want to make a decision to to live the rest of your life in a healthy way." After struggling for three years to keep her weight down, shes ready to make the commitment. Fisher, 54, whos most famous for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars, will appear in Jenny Craigs ad campaign that begins this February. Other celebrity representatives for the company have included Valerie Bertinelli, Sara Rue and Jason Alexander. Fisher said she was optimistic that unlike other diets shes tried, Jenny Craig, a program that emphasizes readymade meals delivered to dieters, would help her. "I have tried every diet in the world, and look at me," she said. [But] I am more hopeful now than ever, because I have made this commitment, and I have my Jenny Craig consultant supporting me on my journey." For her weight-loss campaign, Fisher, the author of several novels including Postcards From The Edge, will use Jenny Craigs new Metabolic Max program. Metabolic Max includes a device, the Armband, that monitors how many calories clients eat, and how many they burn. Its like having my consultant on my arm," Fisher said. "I started the program a few days after Thanksgiving, and Ive already lost twelve pounds."
