Interested dieters can click to Low-Carb Gourmet, a service that advises you how to eat well, keep hunger well at bay and still shed pounds. The site and the Low-Carb Gourmet's "Lifestyle" newsletter are run by a couple of dedicated believers in the low carbohydrate approach to dining -- psychiatrist Dr. Walter Standridge and graphics designer C. Scott Hagler.
"Lifestyle" presents recipes that Low-Carb Gourmet has tested to produce what it claims are "the best-tasting, most-satisfying dishes that fit into the low-carb way of life." Mayonnaise? "It's great" -- and oysters and clams and lobsters are fine, although in limited amounts and with a warning that some contain more carbohydrates than others.
Most importantly, says Standridge, "this diet discourages hunger -- if you are hungry, then eat." And if you want to get away from your own kitchen diet arena for a while, Low-Carb Gourmet says it intends to review restaurants "and help you learn how to successfully eat out and stay within your plan."
