There are going to be times in your job search process when you have exhausted all job search strategies and nothing seems to be working. That's when you need to pull out the P's and Q's.
- Please try something innovative and different - you have nothing to lose.
- Quit trying a method that is not working effectively because it convenient and easy.
- Please move beyond the job postings and online career sites and try to connect with a human being.
- Quit sending out resume after resume to the same company because you really want that job.
- Please try NOT sending a resume and use a Qualifications letter instead to that recruiter who will not call you back.
- Quit whining about how qualified you are and demonstrate that in your qualifications letter. Simply include a brief introduction in your letter and create a table that lists the recruiter's/company's requirements on the left and list your qualifications on the right.
- Please, please make sure that you meet or EXCEED the required qualifications before using this strategy.
- Quit worrying about whether this method will work -- a qualifications letter gets your point across quickly, connects the dots for employers and recruiters, and helps you stand out from the plain vanilla jobseekers.
PLEASE give it a try and let me know how it works.
