Photo of the Day: Kirkland, Lifetime Achievement

Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Sally Kirkland nabbed a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award at the New York City Film Festival Opening Gala. She was the first actress ever to appear on Broadway in the buff and she's still feisty at 70 with her own radio show and a crusade to raise awareness of silicone adjunct disease. Sally had her own breast impants removed in 1998 and founded the Kirkland Institute for Implant Survival Syndrome. She lost her battle against the FDA decision to approve gel implants in 2006 after a 14 year ban but she continues to be a vocal opponent of potentially dangerous and painful breast augmentation surgery.
